Singer A Pass, one of the biggest critics of Ugandan music, has once again made bold remarks about the local music scene.
In a recent interview, he revealed that the only Ugandan artiste he listens to is himself and only the songs he is currently working on in the studio.
The “Tuli Kubigere” singer explained that if he is to listen to any other artist, their music must improve him, and he has not seen many of those in Uganda.
He added that although he encounters their music in places where he hangs out, that is where it ends.
He hears it but does not listen, and no Ugandan artiste makes it to his phone playlist.
“Ugandan songs are everywhere. That one I cannot escape. But if it is my phone, it is a different flex,” he said.
He also stressed that he does not listen to music for vibes but instead listens for rich content and lyrics.
“For me, songs are about lyrics that are free from gimmicks,” he said.
This is not the first time A Pass has criticized Ugandan music and musicians. In the past, he referred to Ugandan artists as “dead people walking.”
He also once said that the majority of Ugandan musicians are mediocre, a statement that some artists, especially rapper Navio, disagreed with.
