Media personality Gaetano Kagwa has said that he doesn’t regret anything from his time on the first season of Big Brother Africa, including the controversial sex scene with South African housemate Abby Plaatjes.
While hosting his morning show on Capital FM with Lucky Mbabazi, Kagwa opened up about his feelings regarding the event.
He began by saying, “In 2003, I went to Big Brother Africa. It was not a mistake. I signed up for it, I went for it, and I did my thing.”
He continued, acknowledging there was one thing he might reconsider. “One action which maybe I would go back and revisit,” he admitted.
Mbabazi quickly asked, “Which was a mistake?“
Kagwa responded, “Well… yeah, there were some acts that I did in the house, and some people were like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, but Gaetano, really?’”
Mbabazi probed further, “Like what act?” Kagwa replied, “The act of… acting, with actions.”
Mbabazi clarified, “Oh, you mean when you were with Abby, some of the things that she did?”
“Yeah,” Gaetano Kagwa agreed. “I mean, you know, on television, how could you do that? People were watching you. But, I look back and say, so what? I would do it again. The same way. I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Mbabazi responded, “And you were not thinking.” Kagwa laughed and said, “I was thinking… but not from here. Something was happening.“
When Lucky Mbabazi asked if he ever considered that the whole world was watching, including his father and relatives, Gaetano Kagwa answered, “Of course not. We had no guidance from any other Big Brother Africa before us. We were the first ones. There was no way I could gauge myself. So, if I was able to go back, I would do it the same way I did.”
Kagwa and Plaatjes, who tried to date after the show and even spent some time in Uganda together, ultimately parted ways.
