Jackie Chandiru

Singer Jackie Chandiru has shared her experience of overcoming substance abuse by identifying the root cause of the problem.

She explained that checking someone into a rehabilitation facility only separates them from the substance.

She believes the most effective way to address substance abuse is to find the root cause of the problem and get solutions to uproot it rather than just separating the person from the substance.

“When you take a person to rehab, the only thing you will be doing is to separate them from the drug or from the substance they abuse. But the thing is, what causes the problem? You have to uproot it and need to know where the problem starts from”, Chandiru expressed.

Chandiru noted that she was forced to attempt suicide six times due to drug abuse and only managed to avoid relapse when the individuals caring for her cut off all channels to access the substance.
