The feud between Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, and National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, has taken a dramatic turn.
General Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni, has never hidden his disdain for Bobi.
In his latest online tirade, the military chief openly threatened Bobi, vowing to deal with him.
“Kabobi is going to get the beating of his life soon! I will promote the soldier who … him. Tell Kabobi I didn’t beat him enough in Arua! I’m coming for him again. This time, I’ll beat him properly. I won’t stand in an election with Kabobi! I will simply … him …,” he wrote on his X account.
Not stopping there, Kainerugaba went on to challenge Bobi to a boxing match, boasting about his physical prowess and claiming that eliminating the opposition leader would be easy.
“… Kabobi is an easy job! Very easy. He says he likes boxing. I invite to a boxing match,” he wrote.
Bobi responded with a counter-proposal to the president’s son.
Accepting the duel, he set conditions for the bout, wagering his political career against Kainerugaba’s drinking habits. “Challenge accepted! If you beat me, I’ll quit politics, and if I beat you, you quit alcohol. Say when, and I’ll say where,” Bobi replied.
Following the heated back-and-forth, Kainerugaba’s X account was deactivated yet again, raising speculation about whether he was forced to take it down or if it was a strategic retreat.
Meanwhile, the likelihood of the boxing match happening remains slim; the verbal sparring has further cemented the deep animosity between the two.
