Celebrated Ugandan long-distance runner Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei has been appointed the new Uganda Tourism Ambassador.
The 2019 world champion in the 10,000 m and the tenth man in history to hold the 5,000 m and 10,000 m world records concurrently was appointed as Uganda Tourism Ambassador today in an event that was organized by the Uganda Tourism Board.
In Cheptegei’s speech, the world champion expressed his delight in working with the Uganda tourism team as they seek to rebuild the industry that had been nearly destroyed by the Covid-19 pandemic.
I am delighted to be here this morning- to express solidarity with all the players in Uganda’s tourism industry, as they seek to rebuild an industry that has been nearly destroyed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cheptegei said during the event.
Joshua Cheptegi has now joined Eddy Kenzo among other players in tourism to combine efforts to revive the industry and attract tourists from different parts of the world.
