Moses Magogo claims coach Mike Mutebi turned down the Uganda Cranes job

The President of the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA), engineer Moses Magogo, has claimed that they offered coach Mike Mutebi the Uganda Cranes job and he turned it down.

The Budiope East lawmaker opened up about Mike Mutebi’s turning down the Uganda Cranes job after fans questioned why can’t Uganda appoint a local coach to take center charge of the National team.

The fans request followed the impressive result that Senegalese local coach Aliou Cisse put up at the just concluded AFCON2021 finals when he lifted the continental showpieces title for the first time for his country.

While responding to the fans, Moses Magogo Hassim via his Twitter account disclosed how Mike Mutebi declined the Uganda Cranes job before heading to Rwanda to coach a club team in the Rwandense top tier league.

“A local coach Aliou Cisse won the #AFCON2021 and it is good. There is excitement and Ugandans are asking why we can’t have a local coach for the @UgandaCranes but do we have any Ugandan coach with the kind of ‘build’ like him. Mike Mutebi was offered the job and turned it down”, Moses Magogo Hassim wrote.
