Photos showing melting makeup were edited to shame and crush me – Winnie Nwagi

Swangz Avenue singer Winnie Nakanwagi, better known as Winnie Nwagi, came out to claim that the photos that circulated on social media showing “melting makeup” off her face during The Big Show concert were spread to embarrass her.

She said that the pictures showing dripping makeup off her face were shared for only negative reasons stating that nobody takes a good photo of hers’ and uses it in the news.

She went ahead to claim that everyone usually wants to exaggerate and make her look bad something she says she is now used to.

For that matter, she hired a personal photographer who takes the pictures that she shares on her socials.

“When it’s about Fire Baby, everyone wants to exaggerate. No one takes a good photo and uses it in the news when it’s for Fire Baby. They have to make it look bad. But I’m used. I’m used now. I have a personal photographer who takes my pictures and I post them on my page [social media],” Nwagi said while speaking to Spark TV.

“So, if anyone wants to see me, find the right pictures on my page. Ignore photos shared by bloggers, because they have different intentions. I saw the photos, makeup is dripping, but it wasn’t to the level they made it look. They over-edited the photo… they have to give you what to talk about.”

The Big Show was held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at Lugogo Cricket Oval and Nwagi was among the curtain-raisers for Jamaican dancehall singer Beenie Man.

Some of the other acts were Vinka, Azawi, Grenade, and Zex Bilangilangi.

Nigerian crooner Oxlade Official and South African entertainers Focalistic, Mellow, and Sleazy had been announced among the performers but they didn’t perform due to contractual disagreements with Top Boy Entertainment Records, the events company that organized the concert.

Meanwhile, Nwagi reiterated that she won’t be leaving Swangz Avenue, the record label that manages her music.

“I want you to bury that news. Get a spade, dig a grave, and bury it. There is no such thing. I’m still at Swangz Avenue. We have no issues. It’s people that want to create issues, but there are no issues. We are still working, and we have a lot of plans ahead of us,” she said.

Rumors of Nwagi’s plans to leave Swangz Avenue gained steam after some observers argued that the label was no longer prioritizing her, citing Azawi’s show being held before hers, the label organizing Juliana Kanyomozi’s concert before hers yet it doesn’t manage her and using KT Events to promote her concert, which was held on September 9.
