Singer Sarah Zawedde shared her experience in the music industry, attributing her success to the fact that songwriters used to spend a lot of time on their craft, unlike the songwriters of this generation.
She mentioned that songwriters like Sylver Kyagulanyi, who wrote his timeless hit “Kambere Naawe,” used to take three months to write a song.
“Our songs were written for a long time. Sylver Kyagulanyi wrote the “Kambere Naawe” song for three months. I waited for it for too long, and whenever I went to ask about it, he would tell me that he was correcting some lines and lyrics. It has now hit for 20 years. Even up to this day, if I don’t perform it at my band, sometimes I don’t get paid”, Sarah Zawedde explained in an interview on Sanyuka TV.

Zawedde also highlighted that the then-producers used to give songs too much time, and they would produce line by line.
She urged artists to at least have one classic hit or a song with a deep message, as it can feed them the rest of their lifetime.
