The Archbishop of Kampala, Paul Ssemogerere has called upon church leaders to encourage married couples to solve their family issues before the situation escalates.
Speaking to journalists, he explained that marriage is not a bed of roses whereby someone will just walk through marriage smoothly without facing any hurdles.
He has since advised married couples to endure, forgive, and handle their spouse’s behavior in a calm manner that could keep their relationship flourishing.
Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere adds that marriage should be handled well and not misused because it is a gift from God and goes ahead to quote Mathew: 19 saying marriage is from God and no man is supposed to break up marriage.
“Those challenges have to be faced and sure of it. But the advice to the leaders of the Church is to sit down with those who are facing the challenges and get counseled on how to overcome them. Yes, sometimes people lose hope and they fail but that is not the intention of God. God wanted us to unite women and men to be one and not break up. Because Mathew 19 says ‘marriage is from God, no man or no one is supposed to break up that marriage. My encouragement is to advise people to take marriage seriously because it is a gift from God. Don’t misuse it and mishandle it”, Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere
He said this during the marriage conference organized by the Bible Society of Uganda at Hotel Africana.
