Musician Alien Skin has spent months sharing his aspirations to join active politics.
He recently announced his intention to run for the position of Lord Mayor in Kampala. Alien explained that he is committed to his aspirations, and fans should look out for what’s coming next.
He says that he will soon launch his political plans.
“I am still committed to my leadership aspirations, and I will soon launch my political plans. My fans should know that I want to take up the position of Lord Mayor in Kampala,” he explained in an interview with the media shortly after leaving Makindye Magistrates Court.
Alien Skin added that he has various people who are ready to invest in his campaign for the good of Kampala.
Erais Lukwago has so far served as the Kampala Lord Mayor for three terms since 2011.
On 20 May 2011, Lukwago was sworn in as Lord Mayor of Kampala for a five-year term. In 2016 he was sworn in for his second term. On 26 May 2021, he was sworn in for his third term as the Lord Mayor of Kampala Capital City.
Earlier this month, he shared his thoughts on politics, particularly his original intention was to run for the country’s highest office.
While his popularity and influence have grown in a short period, he now feels that the political landscape in Uganda doesn’t offer realistic avenues for meaningful change through elections.
The musician initially had dreams of joining the political arena, hoping to bring transformation to Uganda.
