Entrepreneur Charlie Lubega has officially announced that Club Guvnor, one of Kampala’s iconic nightlife destinations, is up for sale. Formerly known as Ange Noir, the club has been a cornerstone of Uganda’s entertainment scene for decades.

Speaking at the Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) NextGen 2024 event, Lubega extended an invitation to budding entrepreneurs to take over the reins.

“If there are any young entrepreneurs out there interested in running a competitive nightlife business, Guvnor is up for sale,” he revealed during the event, which featured South African entrepreneur and author Vusi Thembekwayo as the keynote speaker.

The PSFU later confirmed the announcement on their X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, December 6, 2024.

This move comes months after Club Guvnor announced it would stop hosting Saturday night operations due to dwindling business.

In May 2024, the club informed its patrons that starting June 2024, it would no longer operate on Saturday nights, citing a “sharp drop in business.”

Despite this shift, Club Guvnor emphasized that its venue would still be available for private bookings on Saturdays. The space remains open for events like private parties, concerts, product launches, and corporate presentations.

Club Guvnor, widely recognized for its premium entertainment experience, has been a favorite spot for nightlife enthusiasts in Kampala.
