Katongole Omutongole, a former media personality and musician, has explained why he abandoned his media job.
Katongole says he joined the media in 2001 and had planned to work for a decade before pursuing a career in politics. But when things didn’t work out, he persisted for over ten years, with his last media station being Bukedde.
By the time he left, Katongole felt that his time behind the camera was over and that he had to pave the way for the upcoming young talents, so they could also get a chance. He says traveling to the US was his next plan after quitting the media.
“I have met so many people in the media, and I do not see myself competing with them. I can’t compete with young people in doing music shows. I couldn’t stand competing with all those people.
Imagine going for awards and competing against all of them. I needed to give them space. We had to leave a chance for the young people to be known,” he said.
Katongole Omutongole has permanently relocated to the US, where he has been for nearly two years, and works odd jobs.
