Hajjat Stecia Mayanja has been named as the President of the National Peasants Party (NPP).
The announcement comes to light after the party launched its leadership structure and roadmap for the 2026 general elections.
The ceremony, held in Nansana, marked a powerful rebirth for the once-dormant political entity.

Hajj Elias Wamala Miyagi founded the party in 2004 but had fallen into political obscurity over the years.
Taking her oath with a mix of solemnity and determination, Stecia Mayanja pledged loyalty to the party, promising to remain faithful to its cause and values.
“I vow to stay loyal to the party, to be faithful to its mission, and to uphold the constitutional values and political vision we stand for,” she declared,
The past couple of months, Stecia Mayanja had announced that she would run for a political office as Kampala Woman MP as an independent.
However, it turns out that she will be the flag bearer of the NPP as she seeks the office.
