Musician Kapeke, real name Derrick Nsubuga, has revealed the reason behind his preference for collaborating with male artists over their female counterparts.
During a recent TV interview, the “Kabba” hitmaker candidly shared that working with female artists tends to distract him and affects his ability to focus on creating music.
Kapeke admitted that he finds working with men to be more straightforward and less emotionally complicated.
“I do not like working with women so much because I might mess up,” he said. “I avoid being around distractions — that’s why I love working with my boys. Unless we’re dealing over the phone, being in the same space with her cannot go well.”
The artist explained that the dynamics of working with women can sometimes interfere with his productivity, hence his conscious decision to mostly collaborate with male colleagues.
Despite this personal preference, Kapeke has previously worked with a few notable female artists.
He teamed up with Sheebah Karungi on the track “Kawuna” and has expressed admiration for Spice Diana, whom he considers a favorite and hopes to collaborate with in the future.
Kapeke’s statement has sparked conversation online, with fans weighing in on his candidness and the broader implications of gender dynamics in the music industry.
