State Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Hon. Balaam Barugahara, has revealed that he survived a tragic road accident on his way to Fort Portal for the Tooro Kingdom Annual Youth Conference.
The incident occurred in Kagadi District when the minister’s convoy was involved in a horrific crash.
Tragically, the accident claimed the life of a boda boda rider and left two members of the minister’s team injured.
In a heartfelt message shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Minister Balaam expressed deep gratitude for surviving the ordeal and credited his driver for the quick and skillful maneuvers that helped avert a more catastrophic outcome.
“Thank God for His mercy. Our car was involved in a horrific accident in Kagadi on our way to Fort Portal for the Tooro Kingdom Annual Youth Conference. I’m grateful for our driver’s quick thinking and skillful maneuvers that saved us,” Balaam posted.
He also extended condolences to the family of the deceased and offered his prayers for the recovery of those injured.
“Sadly, a boda boda rider lost his life, and two of our people were injured. May the deceased soul rest in peace. My condolences to the family, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” he added.
The minister’s post has since drawn a wave of concern and sympathy from the public, with many Ugandans expressing their heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time.
While the exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, local authorities are expected to launch a formal investigation.
As the country comes to terms with the tragedy, the incident serves as a sobering reminder of the daily risks on Uganda’s roads and the need for increased road safety awareness.
