Azawi, Swangz Avenue singer and songwriter, will be celebrating five years in the music industry on Independence Day on 09th October 2024 and among the many things that will be changing as she marks the new milestone will be her rate card.
In a radio interview, Azawi, born Zawedde Priscilla has cautioned all event promoters and organizers who would wish to book her for any performance to brace themselves for she will be charging a higher amount than usual.
Azawi signed under Swangz Avenue in 2019, a huge decision that changed her music career, putting her among the most talented singers and songwriters running the industry.
For the first five years, she has so far been in the industry, Azawi has spent them investing, promoting her brand, establishing herself as an artist, and she believes it is now time to start reaping from her hard work and this can only be actualized by charging a higher amount.
“Now that the time of investing in the brand has passed, my next step is to collect. Every promoter that comes up to me has to have enough money. These first five years have been all about investing, sacrificing, and making sure I stabilize as a brand, building a foundation, and establishing myself, now it’s time to make money. If you do not have money, do not desire to have Azawi at your events. Right now, my mind is on the bag, it’s time to bear the fruits of my labor”, Azawi revealed.
Azawi started her music journey with her debut single ‘Quinamino’ released in January 2020. She went on to release an EP that same year and two studio albums African Music (2021), and Sankofa (2023).
She has also garnered fans globally through international collaborations with prominent artists like Patoranking, Konshens, Bien, Mike Kayihura, DJ Neptune, and Ayo Lizer among others.
