Bobi Wine, born Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the president of the National Unity Platform has donated food items to starving Kyambogo and Makerere University students at the political headquarters at Kavule.
The students who had run out of funds to cater for their daily livelihoods welcomed the presidential gesture and asked other well-wishers to come and give a hand to those other students who needed help.
According to Bobi Wine, government-sponsored students at public universities continue to starve, yesterday we extended some food relief to students from Kyambogo University, in addition to the relief we extended to Makerere students last week.
They told us how they had been starving, unable to concentrate on their studies! Many students have been forced into prostitution to afford life! Other students have been forced to resort to begging in Banda, Wandegeya, and other places
This humiliation and indignity of our young people is presided over by Gen. Museveni’s wife who he anointed the Minister of Education.
This is not the first time Bobi Wine and his other political party members have donated food staff to the public, recently they took tonnes of food to residents of Kiteezi who were ravaged by the landfill.
Over time, Wine and the MPs at Kavule have shown and proven to be generous individuals by always running to the rescue of those who are vulnerable.
We hope to see similar gestures being established by other political party leaders but they seem to be minding about their stomachs.
