Buchaman, singer-cum-Presidential Envoy on Ghetto Affair is gearing up to stage a concert dubbed ‘Memories Of Firebase’, despite falling out with his work partner Bobi Wine.
Firebase, founded by Bobi Wine, was a dominant force in the music industry, with Bucha Man serving as the Vice President alongside Bobi Wine as president.
The two were inseparable friends and creative partners before Bucha Man decided to ditch the camp over irreconcilable differences. Despite the rift between them, Buchaman has decided to stage this concert to revive the Firebase due to the constant demand for their classic hits from the label way back.
He says they have tried releasing new music but fans continue to crave the old-school jams that made Firebase a household label.
Right now, old is gold and people love our old music. When we release new music, people will listen to it but still demand the jams we released years ago. That is why I’m working on staging our concert titled ‘Memories Of Firebase’,” he stated.
According to Buchaman, ‘Memories Of Firebase’ promises to bring together an all-star lineup of artists who were once under the label on the same stage to relive the memories.
It will be purely dancehall and you will see the old dancehall artists from Firebase those days. People need to see these people again and reminisce on the good old dancehall concerts, he said.
At the time of their separation, Bobi Wine and Bucha Man had been close for ten years. On several occasions, Bucha Man accused Bobi Wine of poor pay that could not help him sustain his lifestyle. When he left the camp, he released several songs like Kyakula Sada, and Binkabya hitting at his former boss.
Bucha Man asserts that he still considers himself the Vice President of the Fire Base crew despite his departure and also denies holding any grudge against Bobi Wine.
