Dexta Rapper Hints at a Possible Collaboration with Akon

Rising Western Ugandan artist Dexta Rapper has revealed that a potential collaboration with global music icon Akon could be on the horizon.

The young rapper, whose real name is Christopher, shared the exciting news during a recent interview with local media.

According to Dexta, the Senegalese-American superstar slid into his DMs after one of his viral hits caught Akon’s attention online.

Akon came to my inbox and said he had seen me all over,” Dexta shared. “He promised to link up with me and have me on his show. He said after the show, they would see how to go to the studio and make something happen.

The buzz around Dexta grew after the release of his now-viral hit “In Wa Wa Wa”, a song and dance that features his father Masereka Uziah.

The duo’s infectious energy and unique chemistry swept across TikTok, with thousands of fans jumping on the viral challenge.

Among the many celebrities who shared the trend was none other than Akon, whose post amplified the duo’s global visibility.

Interestingly, the catchy “In a Wa” phrase that became the hallmark of the song wasn’t part of the original lyrics. “It was just something I came up with on stage that lucky night,” Dexta explained, emphasizing how spontaneous creativity can spark a cultural moment.

Masereka Uziah, Dexta’s father and loyal backup dancer, opened up about their journey. “I was selling cassava on the roadside before this,” he revealed. “Because of my son, I’m in Kampala now.” He encouraged other parents to believe in and support their children’s dreams, no matter the circumstances.

Their story of humble beginnings has resonated with fans both at home and abroad. From performing on small stages to now gracing international platforms and brand endorsements, the duo’s fame continues to soar.

Dexta, however, remains grounded: “We are very humble because we have humble advisors… We discuss any amount that you have. We are not that high,” he said, in response to a question about booking fees.
