Kampala Deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura revealed her intentions to contest for the presidency of Uganda if President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s son, CDF Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba runs for the same seat in the 2026 general elections.
The Deputy Lord Mayor made her aspirations public as she appeared on the Mwasuze Mutya show, hosted by Stella Nante, and stressed how Uganda is not a Kingdom to be run and led by family members from the first family.
“Uganda is not a kingdom. But if [President Museveni’s son] Muhoozi (CDF, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba) contests for the presidency I will also contest against him”, She stated.
Doreen Nyanjura believes that if the Electro Commission is to hold a free and fair election process, on leveled ground, there is no way Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba would defeat her for the position of being in charge of the highest office in Pearl of Africa.
She went on to stress that Muhoozi is just a fellow who grew up in a privileged background and urged those from humble backgrounds not to underestimate themselves in any field they aspire to take on.
“If they offer us a leveled ground, how can Muhoozi defeat me? These are people who just grew up in a privileged background. Those who come from a humble background should stop underrating themselves. Your background doesn’t matter if you know what you want in life,” – Kampala deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura
