Faridah Nakazibwe, a former news anchor-turned-businesswoman and devoted mother has opened up about the state of her mental health while still working on television.
She said that listening to people’s problems and not finding a way to help them tortured her so much.
Nakazibwe worked on television for nearly 10 years. She was a news anchor and had a weekly morning show called NTV mwasuze mutya.
The show had many segments, including celebrities speaking about their lives and health talks. It also included people seeking help.
Her show was one of the most watched in Uganda at the time ranging from what guests she was having daily. Some of the visitors had heartbreaking stories and those stories strongly affected Faridah Nakazibwe although she was talking about them.
Through a post made on her X platform, the former TV personality revealed quite a lot. She said the heartbreaking stories that she covered while working on television were part of the things that took away her mental health.
She said that it hurt her that she couldn’t solve people’s problems although she wishes she had the power to solve them.
“The things that took away my mental health back then while on TV. So many people with problems I couldn’t solve, but I wished I could,” she posted.
It should be noted that Faridah resigned from her job while pregnant. Even now that she has given birth, she seems not to have plans of working on television again.
