The mother of Kawempe North Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya said that she regrets the day her son joined politics.

It should be noted that the MP was a popular blogger on Facebook who was en route to becoming an active politician.

At first, he was a councilor for Kawempe in KCCA but was voted into Parliament in the last general elections.

Muhammad Ssegirinya has hardly served in the August House due to critical illness. A few months into his parliamentary tenure, he was arrested alongside fellow MP Hon Allan Ssewanyana and the two spent almost two years behind bars.

When he left, he was gravely ill as news heard that he was battling lung complications and skin cancer complications. Consequently, he was flown to the Netherlands and later to Kenya for treatment. He has made great strides toward recovering a man who was almost dead.

Here is what she had to say;

While speaking to the media, his mother said that he’s now steadily recuperating. Very soon he will be able to fulfill his mandate to his constituency.

She thanked the people of Kawempe who had been there and prayed for her son. Additionally, she said that he’s now at home and his legs are only bothering him.

She went ahead to say that she wished he hadn’t joined politics because this was the genesis of his health complications.

Quizzed whether she will stop him from participating in the upcoming general elections, she said that the way she knows her son, nothing can stop him. This is because he likes helping people and they too have reciprocated the love.

“True I wish my son had never joined politics because it was the start of his health deteriorating. But he’s hard-headed and couldn’t be stopped. I’m certain that he’s running in the next elections and I want to thank the people of Kawempe who have been there for him. Please vote him back into Parliament so he can serve you diligently”.
