Musician Jose Chameleone has announced that he has officially quit smoking and alcohol following his recent health complications.
The Leone Island boss, who travelled to Kenya for medical review, addressed the press, narrating how he has been an addict almost all his life.
His decision to quit follows his battle with acute pancreatitis that saw him bedridden in the US for several months.
“I have been flipping bottles and enjoying myself, and I have been a smoker all my life. But for the sake and goodness of myself and my health, I put all that aside. I don’t drink or smoke anymore.
Chameleone landed in the country a few days back and was welcomed like the hero that he is by his fans and relatives. He promised that they would get a chance to see a better version of him, all thanks to God for giving him a second chance at life.
“That was the second round. God has given me episodes; that is the past now I started the second round. I’m just a few years away to fifty so I have to slow down,” he said.
Upon his return, Jose Chameleone, along with his family and close friends, held a Thanksgiving Mass at St. Joseph Lweza Church. When asked what inspired him to run to God, Jose Chameleone revealed that as a believer, he had to thank God for his life and steady recovery.
“People must know that I’m a God-fearing person and a believer. I put God ahead of everything. Before the doctors did their job, God did his own. God was the first healer. So, I have been praying to God that I be a better person every other day,” he noted.
