Kajjubi Kibijigiri, a veteran Kadongo Kamu performing artist, recounts his experience of being abducted during the 1980s bush war.
He was born in Mulago Hospital, raised in Wakiso, and later relocated to Bulemezi due to the war.
Since he was a teenager by then, he was used as a spy with his fellow agemates. They would move in groups to spy on their attackers.
One fateful day happened to befall them when they were abducted and witnessed the killing of three of his colleagues. He managed to escape and found solace in Bugereere, where he continued his studies.
By the time the war ended, Kajjubi Kibijigiri was in Bugereere where he had started forging a new lifestyle. After some time, he and his family members returned to Wakiso where they are currently based.
He was surprised to find Mr. Sserwanga Lwanga as the school head teacher of Ndeeba School, Bugereere.
Sharing about whether his parents were supportive of his career choice, he mentioned that his mother supported him so much because she also used to sing in the church choir back then.
When asked about the evolving technology and the impact it has created on the kind of music he does, he reasoned that he has also managed to switch to modern times to catch up with the world.
Kajjubi Kibijigiri stated that he no longer releases music of 15 minutes understanding that no airplay will be given to his music if it is that long as back then.
