Rickman Manrick has revealed plans to officially retire from active music in 2028, marking the end of a decade-long journey that began with his breakout hit “Ebango“.
In a candid interview, Rickman shared that he will celebrate his musical legacy with one final, unforgettable performance.
“I’m going to retire from music in 2028, with a concert celebrating 10 years of Rickman. It will be my first and last show,” he said.
The upcoming concert, which Rickman describes as both his debut and farewell live performance, will serve as the climax of a career that has seen him grow from a fresh-faced artist into a household name in Ugandan music.
Reflecting on his beginnings, Rickman recalled the excitement of recording Ebango, a track that propelled him into the spotlight.
“When I recorded Ebango, I was just starting, and I loved the experience. Now, I am doing music that will last generations,” he said.
Over the years, Rickman’s sound has matured, and so has his perspective on the industry. These days, he approaches music with a renewed sense of freedom and purpose.
With several business ventures now supporting him financially, Rickman says he no longer feels the pressure to release music for commercial reasons.
“Music is now more of a passion and legacy than a hustle,” he added.
As the countdown to 2028 begins, Rickman’s announcement has stirred a mix of emotions among fans—gratitude for the music he’s shared, and nostalgia for the journey that’s soon coming to a close.
His final concert promises to be a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of an artist who has left an indelible mark on Uganda’s music scene.
