Spice Diana has opened up about the delays in releasing her collaborations with Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz, citing financial constraints as the main hurdle and sex advances.
Despite completing several songs together, the visuals for their first collaboration have yet to be shot due to the high production costs involved.
Spice Diana, who first connected with the Wasafi Records family in 2021 and later worked with Zuchu on Upendo, revealed that working with an artist of Diamond’s caliber requires significant financial investment.
She said she’s still looking for the money needed to shoot a music video that meets Diamond’s standards.
“We have more than one song, we have many songs, but sometimes it’s the money. To have a video that matches his standards is expensive,” She said.
She further explained that Diamond Platnumz, who earns around $100,000 per performance in Uganda, demands high-quality production for his music videos.
For their collaboration, Spice Diana estimates the cost to be around $50,000, a figure she admits is challenging to meet given the difference in earnings between the Ugandan and Tanzanian music industries.
In addition to the financial challenges, Spice Diana revealed that certain musicians might be willing to lower their rates but may expect favors in return, including sexual advances, a proposition she firmly rejects.
She also explained that if she had wanted the video to be released, she would have given in her body because it is the easiest route for one to land a major collaboration with big stars.
