Entertainment critic Jacob Akunguzibwe, alias DJ Jacob Omutuuze, has criticized the Ugandan music industry, stating that it has been on its knees since politics invaded it.

He argues that established artists have taken sides, forcing talented artists to quit the music business.

Omutuuze also criticizes the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) as clicks or dens of thieves created to chop government money.

He thus suggests that the government could have amended the copyright bill to benefit all participants in the creative sector instead of giving handouts.

“The Ugandan music industry is on its knees due to politics and the rise of computer-assisted wannabes, with the government’s creation of the Uganda National Musicians Federation and Uganda Musicians Association seen as a way to confuse artists and distribute government money”, DJ Jacob Omutuuze stated while in an interview on Spark TV’s Daily Sqoop.

DJ Jacob Omutuuze is one of the entertainment journalists who have served quite long in this field for a period which is more than 10 years and his varsity experience in the industry is quite undeniable.

He was once a very close friend to the UNMF president Eddy Kenzo but they fell out due to misunderstandings that they got and since then, they don’t see each other face-to-face anymore.

When the political wave hit the music industry, DJ Jacob Omutuuze also joined and contested for a political office and was thus voted as the LC III Mayor for Bunamwaya Council.
