Ykee Benda, the Mpaka Records boss, has declared that in the whole Ugandan music industry, he has respect for singer Sheebah Karungi alone.
He stated that only Sheebah Karungi has the right to criticize him or offer opinions on his life and career citing she is the sole artist who paved the way for his success.
On numerous occasions, while opening up about his journey to stardom, Ykee Benda has always acknowledged the role Sheebah Karungi played in his breakthrough after she hopped on his ‘Farmer’ single to do a remix in 2016.
The collaboration topped the charts and officially put him on the map.
Appearing in a Live session on his TikTok account, Ykee Benda revealed that he would not be listening to anyone else besides Sheebah saying she has earned the right to criticize him after having paved the way for him in the music industry with the collaboration.
The only person that has the right to say something to me is Sheebah because she is the one that gave me the collaboration. For the rest, I just see you. I respect you but I don’t fear any of you, I hope you understand.
This declaration follows Kabako, a very close friend to Sheebah Karungi made recent comments on TikTok, advising Ykee Benda to stay clear of the ongoing feud between King Saha and Jose Chameleone.
Kabako respected Ykee Benda’s talent but emphasized that he shouldn’t comment on industry matters.
If they call just artists, you are free to come running as fast as you can. But when they call people to give advice on matters concerning artists, don’t come out. You will end up saying things you will regret, Kabako cautioned Ykee.
