Lwemiyaga County NRM MP Hon Theodore Ssekikubo has attacked his fellow MPs especially those from the opposition. He branded them cowards after they chickened out from signing the motion to censor the 4 MPs on the Parliamentary Commission who were allegedly involved in the corruption of Shs 1.7b
It should be noted that the MP last week moved a motion to censure legislators. These include Esther Afoyochan (Zombo DWR), Prossy Akampulira (Rubanda DWR), Solomon Silwany (Bukooli Central) and Mathias Mpuuga (Nyendo-Mukungwe). Ssekikubo revealed that he just wanted 177 signatures from his fellow MPs last week.
The MP called out the MPs who came out to Parliament chest-thumping that they were going to fight corruption. However, when the opportunity presented itself, they hid themselves.
According to Ssekikubo, he had hoped to have gathered all the necessary signatures by the end of this week. However, Opposition MPs have shied away from the process and its NRM MPs who are at the forefront.
Clean leadership has been the hallmark of NRM, we fight for accountability and transparency. By the way, if you have noted, it is the NRM MPs at the forefront of this. The Opposition is wobbling, they are looking through the windows, and in the corridors, they run very fast they aren’t putting their heads high. But for MPs who came to the strong promise to fight corruption and poor service delivery, this is another call. Send those MPs to do their duty here, they must come to Parliament to discharge the cardinal duty to hold Parliament to account. But they are hiding, they are busy down there, they are in business,” he said.
Theodore Ssekikubo also revealed that the embattled Commissioners have now sought solace from the Speaker to save them.
They claim the censure motion is intended to remove Speaker Among from office. And it is this form of desperation that has prompted the Commissioners to form fake Twitter accounts to tarnish Ssekikubo’s name
