Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) President Edriisa Musuuza, also known as Eddy Kenzo, has weighed in on the use of the late singer Mowzey Radio’s tone in AI by a selected group of individuals in the music industry.
He believes that the idea would have not been bad if the right steps had been taken including getting consent from the late family to rightfully use his tone in the AI by some artists.
Eddy Kenzo shared his opinion about the use of AI following singer Sadat Mukiibi alias Kalifah AgaNaga’s recent comments he uttered urging all those who use the late Mowzey’s tone in AI to give back to the family some of the money they make from his tone.
The “Ndabilawa” singer proposed that those using the late’s note in the AI should at least always give back to the late’s family a sum of Shs 2m after every two or three months.
He made the remarks as he called out the Swangz Avenue bosses following the fact that Azawi was embroiled in a debate about her single dubbed “Masavu” which was said to have belonged to the late.
The song sparked lots of controversy but the “Quinamino” singer cleared the air concerning the fuss that surrounded the song.
Eddy Kenzo further stressed that he doesn’t mind if his note is also used in the AI but on condition that the person using it should seek permission from him or his family and agree on how they would share the loyalties from his tone.
