The Mayanja family is grappling with the sad and heartbreaking news of the untimely passing of one of their brother Humphrey Mayanja after he succumbed to cancer.
The late is the elder brother to singers Jose Chameleone, Pallaso, and Weasel Manizo, and the late AK47 who passed away in 2015 following a bar brawl at DeJavu bar in Kasanga.
His serious battle with cancer started around July 2023 while he was still residing in the USA where he had relocated for some time as he worked hard to make ends meet. He was, however, called back home after the cancer illness turned severe.
When he returned home, he was immediately taken to Mulago Cancer Institute in a private section where he had been receiving treatment. In a previous interview, his dad, Mzee Gerald Mayanja told reporters that his elder son was not in the best of shape since the doctors at the cancer institute had stopped anyone from visiting him fearing that visitors would carry infections.

Humphrey Mayanja battled cancer of the stomach and received all kinds of treatment but the Lord decided to call him to rest.
The sad news has seen the Mayanja family receive heartfelt condolence messages from their fans, followers, and well-wishers trying to comfort them in the trying period that they are going through.
Through a past social media post shared last year (2023), Humphrey shared a glimpse of how and when he realized something was wrong.

“This is not a pleasant picture. I didn’t take it. But while at Schiphol airport I kept falling asleep and waking up to intermittent fevers. I didn’t feel well and I have never felt like that before. The flight was delayed but after 10 hrs of layover, I was finally on the flight to Logan Airport. I got home safe(or so I thought). I got some rest but when I woke up I realized that my stomach was inflating itself every 5 mins,” Humphrey captioned
“This was so painful that I could not walk or eat anything. ‘My Best friend’ decided to drive me to the ER, I got diagnosed and a decision was made that I be retained for further analysis. They immediately inserted a Nasogastric tube(a very irritating process) inside me. Believe me or not basokoola kakika mu lubuto nange n’entya. Anyway, it all ended in surgery.” he further added.
Funeral service and burial arrangements will be communicated along as the family is processing this heartbreaking news.
The late is believed to have passed on aged about 52 years old and was the only Mayanja brother who never gave a shot at doing music as the rest of his brothers. He lived with his children and wife based in the USA. We are not sure how many children Humphrey Mayanja left since very few people know much about him.

His vigil will be set up tonight at their home where several mourners are expected to converge as they pay respect to the late during this trying moment. May Humphrey Mayanja’s soul rest in peace!
