Police Arrests 70 Suspected Paver Hitters Along Northern Bypass and surrounding areas

About 70 suspected paver hitter criminals are in police custody following a successful security operation that was carried out on Sunday 5th May 2024.
The suspected criminals were picked from areas including the Northern Bypass (15) while the 55 other criminals were apprehended from Nalya, Kyaliwajjala, Kimbejja, and Namugongo.
They were detained at Kiira Road Police Station and today (6th May) had to be arraigned before court for their case hearing.
The arrest of the 70 suspects was aided by the collective effort of local councils, PISOS, GISO, CMI, UPDF, CI, and area Police, who aimed to curb the menace posed by these miscreants.

“Intelligence-Led Operations in Kiira Road & Kiira, Namugongo Police Divisions
In response to the escalating incidents of paver/stone throwing by criminal elements along the northern bypass (Kiira Road) and in the vicinities of Kimbejja, Kyaliwajala, and Namugongo (Kiira Division), a coordinated joint operation was swiftly initiated. This operation, orchestrated in collaboration with local councils, PISOS, GISO, CMI, UPDF, CI, and area Police, aimed to curb the menace posed by these miscreants.
As a result of diligent efforts, a total of 70 suspected criminals were apprehended yesterday, 5th May 2024. Among them, 15 were captured along the northern bypass and are currently being held at Kiira Road, while 55 were apprehended from areas including Nalya, Kyaliwajjala, Kimbejja, and Namugongo, and are detained at Kiira Division. These individuals are currently undergoing screening and will appear in court, today 6th May 2024.
This decisive action underscores our commitment to maintaining peace and security in our communities. As we gear up for the forthcoming Martyr’s Day activities scheduled for 3rd June 2024, we will continue to conduct targeted operations to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.
